Parents have so much to worry about these days. And now, here comes another child medication recall.
Yes, parents. Just when we thought that avoiding cold medicines for our little toddlers was the only problem we faced at the pharmacy. But now, to make matters even more difficult for parents of toddlers, we now need to steer clear of the medications we thought were okay.
These medications include children's and infant's Tylenol, Benadryl, Zyrtec and Motrin.
In the past few years, parents have heard of the dangers in issuing cold and cough medicines to children under the age of four. This was after the age was moved up from age two. The reason for the caution was largely because parents were overdosing their infants and toddlers on these medications and at such a young age, even a slight overdose proved to be hazardous.
Now, for slightly different reasons, children's medications are off limits again. This time, however, it has to do with bacterial contamination found at the manufacturing facility.
According to an FDA report released yesterday, raw materials used to make the dugs have tested positive for bacterial contamination. The report also found some other violations at the manufacturing facilities. These violations included the failure to properly maintain equipment, the failure to properly train employees and the failure to correctly weigh ingredients.
Note that there is no reported harm from these recalled drugs. Nevertheless, the potential hazards in manufacturing are present.
Although a New York personal injury attorney would be more concerned with cases that involved actual injury as opposed to the remote threat of injury, it may be wise to address any questions to a New York injury lawyer. A New York personal injury lawyer could help you isolate the issues and determine if you have a case to pursue.
